Last Sunday morning we headed out to Baker golf course in Medina (MN). It was harder to find than we'd anticipated, but thankfully we were able to adjust the tee time since we were just playing the 9-hole Evergreen course. I wasn't feeling great that day (i won't bore you with the symptom list, but generally under the weather) and on top of that, I wasn't happy with my outfit. On a positive note however, once we found the place, we hopped out of the car, switched our shoes, grabbed our gear and headed out on a beautiful sunny and calm Minnesota morning. We moved through quickly and had people in front of and behind us, but we never had to wait too terribly long. I lost two balls that were "findable", but we just didn't really have time to recover them. The grass was really thick and it was hard to find balls even inches off the fairway. There were lots of hills and I remember feeling like I was dragging a bit as we walked up some of the longer ones.
I had a few good chips, unremarkable drives and horrendous putts. I've been working on trying to keep my arms relaxed and my head down during my drives, and that seems to help just having a couple things to think about. On my puts, the speed/distance is improving but my lines are off, which is odd, because I usually have the opposite problem. The lesson in all that is that you have to struggle in different aspects of the game on different days so you don't get fooled into thinking you're at the very least. . . consistent. This day, the consistent theme seemed to be that I wasn't great at anything.
